BridgeAbility is a disability and SEN football club

We offer weekly training sessions (Mondays) and take part in monthly matches within the Lancashire FA Ability Counts League.

Players can choose either to just train or play in the competitive league matches which are once a month during the season (Saturdays).

BridgeAbility Is a great club that will help you exercise and develop your football skills.

We aim to get young people and adults out of the house  where they can exercise by playing football and make lots of new friends and teammates.

With such importance currently being placed on mental health and well-being, we are working hard at creating more social-based activities and evenings. Where friendships and confidence can flourish in an inclusive atmosphere and environment.

BridgeAbility training sessions.

Monday evenings, 5.00 – 6.00

Hopwood, Hall, College, Middleton, campus, Rochdale Road, Middleton, Manchester, M 24.

In the summer we train outside at our own ground in Bamford

What you will need; training, kit, trainers, shin-pads, and a drink to keep you hydrated.

The subs are just £10 a month. Fantastic value! The subs cover the cost of kit, transport for the way trips & matches and the hire of training facilities.

Any ‘leftover’ funding is being diverted towards developing opportunities for new social events.

We have recently just held our first social event at Bamford Bowling Club, previously we have been tenpin bowling in Rochdale and paint balling in Cheshire– much more to come!!!

New initiative with your trust

A initiative has just started, supporting participants with between 11 and 18 between Bridge JFC (FA accredited Club), and YourTrust (The boroughwide Sports, Health andWellbeing Charity). These activity days are held on and Mondays & Fridays throughout the Summer Holidays Friday1st September is the last session. Each session is 10 til 3pm. The Mondays are mainly football based with drills, skills and FUN activities being based at Bridges home ground. Fridays at Hollingworth Lake are ‘lake based’ in the morning (Kayaking and water boarding etc) with the afternoon focusing on games and socialising in the sailing club.

Activities takes place again between 10 til 3. So it’s a great chance for all to come and just enjoy and have FUN, either at a Football and General sports themed day on Mondays, or come to an ‘On theWater’ fun filled day at Hollingworth Lake. The Kayaking and Canoeing are staffed by fully qualified instructors supervising keeping everyone safe

Bridge players make up a large number of the participants. It is great to see everyone just enjoying sport & socialising. If anyone wants to join BridgeAbility (Bridge JFC’s Ability Counts SEN/Disability football team) the opportunity will be available at any of the sessions or by contacting Garry Smith. Bridge JFC is based in Bamford presently having around 28 teams.
